This included&nbsp;exterior improvements and structural modifications on the first floor via the basement level. Deterioration of the building’s facade required restoration of masonry and wood details for 54 window openings in the interior courtyard, as well as repair of the masonry on the outward-facing side of the building. The first-floor structural repairs necessitated a substantial reorganization of compromised MEP systems, which required coordinated removal and redesign of plumbing, electrical, lighting, and fireproofing systems. The renovation of the 36,000 sq ft building had six phases to accommodate seven academic departments and the academic calendar. The project’s three main goals were to renovate the existing spaces for new academic programs, to provide a new entrance with an elevator to make the building accessible; and to replace the existing roof, skylights, and mechanical systems. The original campus cafeteria was transformed into the home of the renowned campus public radio station, WFUV.
