East Campus Dormitory
Designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates in 1981, the East Campus Dormitory at Columbia University is a three-story multipurpose podium and a 20-story tower containing 105 housing units in a series of townhouses, split-level suites, and two-person suites. Although the multi-year rehabilitation project only fully renovates the dormitory tower, it involves dealing with the infrastructure upgrades of the podium which will impact all other levels.
The dormitory renovation includes updating handicap accessibility, window replacement, exterior envelope improvements, HVAC upgrades, pantry and bathroom renovations, sprinkler system additions, and a complete replacement of the fire system throughout the building.
